Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Great dark brown robe, headed by a sweet foamy collar. Caramel, citrus, pears, orange and spices aroma. Delightful taste. Strong yeast taste partly masked by spices and caramel touch. A complex but very, very good beer. Can be compared to ABT 12 and Rochefort...

12oz bottle from BC Liquor at Park Royal. Pours a dark, murky brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is musty with sultanas, bread, treacle and complex undertones too nuanced for easy description. Taste is certainly malty at first with the promised toffee sweetness very evident. There’s a little roastiness there as well layered on top of fruitcake notes. Finish is pleasingly bitter and lingering. Alcohol gives good warmth without being overtly boozy. Excellent.

33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Deep brown ruby tinged colour; thin large bubbled head. Raisin, resin and clove aroma. Sweet flavor, mild alcohol for the strength, with a prune and mincemeat pie finish.

Bottle. The color is dark reddish brown, the foam is thick. Aroma of alcohol, cola and fruit. The beer has a warming feeling. Full-bodied, fruity, sweet, malt and yeast. Aftertaste is long and sweet.

Dark Brown cloudy pour with a thin offwhite head than shrinks to a film. Aroma is sweet and very fruity, juicy nectarine, over ripe peaches, dark candi sugars. Flavor is more nectar fruit, some breadiness, booze, and molasses. finish is warming and a bit sticky. Solid

Ruby colored pour with minimal head and some lace. Brown sugar, some vinegar in the aroma. Taste was slightly tart and sugary.

Acquired this one from the pastor ... holy man and beer lover. Sweet raisin, citrus, almost orange juice aroma. Dark golden orange hazy, tan appearance, little foam with minimal retention, ... faded after a couple minutes. Taste was a heavy cloying sweetness, some burnt flavors, maybe figs ... very strong but not overpowering. Full body, creamy texture, lively, long and sweet finish. Alcohol is present throughout the beer - but soothing - not strong. Excellent dark triple!! One of my favorites.

Dark, murky brown pour with some head, some lacing. Aroma of mild sweetness, slight dough, belgian yeast. Flavor is mildly fruity, mostly prunes and raisins, some doughy breadiness, and a slight herbal bitterness. A bit on the low side of carbonation but is fine for the style. Finishes a bit sweet. Its fine, but not as awesome as I’d hoped.
