Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Opened this and it exploded out of the bottle onto my desk! Be careful with this one. After the cleanup; poured cloudy dark brown, brown head. Nice creamy caramel aroma, some apple fruit, a lot of spice. Taste is quite warm, spicy chocolate and caramel. Subtle bitterness comes in late to help balance the malty sweetness. Finishes sweetly, with caramel.

New Years 2009 beer! Rang in the new year with a Draak blast. A fine looking beer, even if it is brown and not golden. A nicely flavored, aromatic head leads to a crisp, gritty hoppy flavor. The Begian qualities and spices are definitely evident, but the alcohol is excellently hidden. Finally, a smooth finish lets me call this an extraodrinary beer.

Bottle from a variety pack. Pours a hazy amber color with a big frothy head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, citrus and spices. Taste of malt, over ripe fruits and spices. Has a earthy semi sweet finish. Nice brew.

Bottle from S&K Beverages in Plano, TX. Pours a very nice looking deep reddish amber with nice beige head. Aroma is great, citrus, malt, yeasty, caramel, pretty nice! Flavor is very good, sweet, caramel malty, fruit, nice small citrus tang, alcohol, brown sugar, nutty....pretty complex. Mouthfeel is heavy bodied, has high carbonation and a little fizzy. Overall, this is some good shit! Worth the money!

Had on tap at Redlight Redlight. I loooove Triples. I love most belgians. Poured a clear darker amber color. Aroma was sweet carmalized sugar. Flavor was plums, brown sugar, sweet malts and a bit of cinnamon. Very delightful.

Bottle courtesy of my brother for christmas, but possibly my sister. Dark reddish brown with a really nice looking medium sized, tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, alcohol, yeast, dark fruit, and some citrusy smelling fruits. Alcohol is well hidden in the flavor, and very little warming presence. Pretty smooth flavor, but it was not bursting with it. Dark fruit, brown sugar, fruit, bread, yeast, and apples. Very minimal hopping. Overall it was pretty enjoyable, with a good amount of subtle flavor.
