Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Bottle: Pours a brownish deep amber with a thick lacing tan head. The aroma has some very mild roasted notes. Some sweet and toasted dark Belgian malts are present- vanilla, brown sugar, dark fruits, fig, and raisins. Standard Quad aroma. Lively carbonation. Has lots of Belgian toasted malts in the flavor. Brown sugar, a touch of toffee and dried fig. Has a soft sweetness throughout which is honey-like. Finish remains toasted with a peppery alcohol note and mild dryness. Well hidden alcohol, and drinkable considering it’s stature. Solid Quad.

330ml Bottle from the LCBO as part of a Belgian Ale Sampler pack The aroma is quite mild sweet and malty Pours a nice cloudy light brown And oh my the taste is wonderful spicy and sweet but not too much of either a little bit of alcohol taste to be expected I guess from a 10.5 ABV Very very good

I tasted this beer before I got my account with ratebeer, so I can’t really remember all the flavors.

Pours drown cloudy brown with a tight beige head which remains on the beer. Taste is malty to the max. So many malt hue play on my tongue. Caramel, nuts, fruits, and earthy flavours are all prevalent. A hard hitting alcohol flavour soon removes the other wonderful flavours from my mouth. Overall, a pretty good beer but a little high ABV for my liking.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter a earth brown with a small head. the nose is carmel, nuts and dark fruits especially cherries. It is smooth but also pretty hard hitting and the 10.5 percent alcohol can be picked up. Some spices stick to the palate along with the alcohol. All in all a very nice quad.

deep ruby read color with big, bubbled head. nose of caramel, (sour) cherries and sweetness. from that i was surprised by such a robust flavor. Not too heavy on the tongue with some sweet malt and dry-bittering... dark fruits (grapes and fig). Reminds me a lot of a less refined abt 12. Quite nice.

Bottle and on draft some time ago at mile squared. Bottle pours a dark brown body with a white head 3 fingers high. Dark fruity plum, and apple skins. Nice warming from the alcohol, light hoppiness a bit of citrus. candy sugar and clove to spice it.

From bomber. Pours re-brown with very little white head. Aromas of yeast and dark fruits. Bottle may be off - flavors seem muted and possibly tainted. Not as good as previous GD’s. Will try again in the near future.
