Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Bottle. Dark brown with amber ruby edges; tan head with larger bubbles. Doppelbock, dunkel aroma, roast chocolate, caramelization. Acidic carbonation evident at first sip. Yeast character is present but subdued compared to other Belgian ales. Flavor is deep and complex with some raisin, alcohol, dark crystal, some straw or earth notes. Balanced. Excellent when served at cellar temps, becomes smoother. Very warming. Very excellent brew.

On tap. Dark brown appearance with a sweet aroma with a hint of dark fruit. Although this beer is sweet there is some how a balance and it works for me. One of my favorite Belgium beers. Its dark, strong spicy and the yeast all together make for an outstanding balanced beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, surprisingly dark for a triple, with thick offi-white head. Aroma is of caramel, dark fruit, and brown sugar. Flavor is fruitly, caramel malts and yeast. Alcohol is well hidden. One of my favorite belgian ales.

Tased this brew at my favorite beer joint in Media, PA called Quotations. This one was just tapped and the beer was slightly warm so I was not able to enjoy it as I would have liked. Tasted chocolately with rich malty overtnes.

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a few fingers of white-tan head. Sweet odor of raisins and caramel malts. Thick, almost syrupy taste to it, really deep and sweet. Fruity and malty, and surprisingly good. I paid too much for this at a bad liquor store out of curiosity, but tasting it I do not feel nearly as ripped off now.

Picked this up on a whim. What a great whim it was. Bold color, aroma, and taste. Immediately went back and bought more.

Just tried this for the first time 2 days ago. Man, do the Belgians know how to make beer. This had a nice, dark color to it with a almost sweet caramel-like aroma. Went down with a bit of a bite, but it was an overall good drinking experience. Great with an amaretto cake.

bottle 750ml: pours with a very lively tingley looking off white head that diminishes quickly that lingers into a thin line above a dark brown body. aroma very nice fruit and sugar aromas a little amount of sour funkiness behind all that is some caramel malt. nice fresh apple scent. flavou ris a bitter start with some caramel malt and an almost rotten fruit taste. not nearly as good tasting as smelling. finia=shes bitter with an aftertaste.
