Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Wow very beer has flavors of raisin, plum, has a nice malty flavor to it also. A lot better then I was expecting, pours a nice creamy head. Actually tastes similar to Rocheford 10

Bottle from Sam’s in Durham. Pours dark hazy brown with reddish tint. Not much head to speak of, but what’s there is beige. Nose offers lots of Belgian sugar, some yeast and dark fruits -- in particular, golden raisins, concord grapes, and plums. Bit of metallic notes. Boozy, and with a heavy palate. Good for splitting a bottle, but a bit much (and a bit one-dimensional) overall.

Out of a 750ml bottle, poured dark amber or reddish brown whichever is your fancy. Had a decent size head that dissipates to a manageable small amount. Smells of lots of malt, caramel, Belgian candi sugar, and perhaps a slight hint of dark/black cherry as you start to drink it down. Flavor definitely has a malt/sugary taste but also combined with a fruit flavor possibly the cherry or another fruit. Mildly hoppy at best which is probably good for a tripel/quad like this where the hops aren’t meant to shine through. Warming almost within a few sips of the glass with a decent amount of carbonation. Overall a good beer which is what I was hoping/expecting from the reviews I’ve read of it.

On tap at the Cheeky Monk in Denver. Is this a tripel or a quad? Sort of in the middle. Reddish-brown in color with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, candi sugar, spices, and dark fruits. Flavor is caramel malt, toffee, candi sugar, plum, raisin, spices, mild hops, and some metallic notes. Pretty sweet. Would be very good if not for the slight metallicity. Palate is medium-full with fairly high carbonation and some alcohol warmth.

Bottle. Ruby amber in colour, small off white head. Heaps of caramel, toffee, burnt sugar thing going on, some red cedar too. I didn’t actually "eat" it, as the description recommends, but i got a bit of the mellow happiness.

Ruby-brown with a big tan head. Sweet malts, fruit and some yeast in aroma. Ultra rich flavor, heavy on the brown sugar and dark crystal malts. Also some earthy notes- plums, raisins, and a nice touch of alcohol. Big and full, with a sweet finish.

Nice beer that balance the high ABV with a malty body and tons of flavour in a good way.
