Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

11.2oz white bottle, from the Natural Food store on Sawmill Rd., Columbus, Ohio. Dark amber color with a two-finger, bubbly, dark tan head. Nose is very sweet; malty; light caramel; lightly astrengent from the alcohol fumes; lightly dark fruit and perhaps some molassess; pleasant aroma however slightly nondescript. Very strong flavor; extremely malty; slightly spicy almost like cinnamon oil; alcohol astringent with some alcohol warmth through the nose; tiny bit of a bitter hop finish; this beer warms my face. Very thick and very creamy; mildly sticky but not cloying. Great beer; a pleasure to enjoy.

This quadrupel looks more like a thick stout than an ale because of its rich, dark, motor oil color. The thick creamy taste also give the impression of a stout. This is smooth and delicious, especially on tap in the correct 10.5 oz glass/sifter.

pours deep ruby color, generous head, some lacing. nose of plum, malt, sweet fruit and alcohol. flavor is sweety, plummy, malty. oh yeah. and alcoholy. palate is oily, medium bodied. overall, although it is pretty fruity, it is also highly alcoholic, so if you are in a real hurry to get drunk, this just might be the beer for you. cheers. and enjoy!

what a great beer. alc.% should not keep you away well rounded aroma, very well balanced taste, with a tendency to the sweet end. ends a little bitter and with a reduced version of the original flavor. truly a work of art. my score is too low.
