Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 5, 2004 [Draft] A dark red beer with a beutiful head where the bubbles in the lower part goes up and in the top part goes down. The aroma is very sweet with note of berries especially cowberries, yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet, with loads of cowberries, notes of hops and a dry hoppy end. It has a nice round mouthfeel. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 25, 2007 Bottled at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Lightly hazy amber, minimal head. Syrupy caramel that simmers in a pudding of pineaple jam. Extremely sweet. Medium bodied with thick syrupy mouthfeel. Some burnt sugar. Nuances just drown in a sea of sweetness. Not good at all. Papsoe (10267), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 4, 2005 Updated: Jan 8, 2006(Bottle 33 cl) Very dark with a huge off-white head. Extremely full-bodied and sugary. The hops don’t really level out the sweetness. Lovely as a desert beer or a night cap, but one is plenty. A beer to chew. 310593 Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 25, 2000 Updated: Oct 22, 2003Opaque med-brown; light brown head; aroma of alcohol, chocolate, raisin, baked apples. Creamy texture, milk chocolate balances with some alcohol heat. Yeast, vague fruit notes. A simple beer whose popularity continues to confound me. To each his own I guess.
2 years old: Opaque cherrywood. Inch thick mocha head - impressive given the age and strength of this brew. Vague dark fruits, earth, caramel, malts and alcohol (esp. as it warms). Drinks like a warm Frosty spiked with brandy - sweet, thick, oily, sugary, vaguely fruity (gooseberry, plum, pear), artificial chocolate. Finishes too timid unless it is warm in which case alcohol attacks. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 23, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy to murky brown with a lacing tan head. Light earthy aroma with a minor note of caramel. Flavour is extremely sweet and with solid flavour of caramel malt. Dried fruit notes appear just before and into the finish.
