BeerBelcher (709), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 7, 2007 I thought this beer was pretty good. It was spirited, and tasted to me a bit like cognac (not that I’ve had cognac more than once in my life), and was a nice way to cap off an evening.
It poured a clear red sparkling color. A liquor-like aroma that I’m guessing is cognac-like with a deep smell and lots of alcohol esters. Flavor was cereal and malty with a warming sensation and thick brown liquor like caramel flavor. Mouthfeel was thick and astringent, like a liquor. Pretty good.
I’d recommend this.
Damico (50), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 This quadrupel looks more like a thick stout than an ale because of its rich, dark, motor oil color. The thick creamy taste also give the impression of a stout. This is smooth and delicious, especially on tap in the correct 10.5 oz glass/sifter. blutt59 (624), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 16, 2008 bottle, dark amber color, malty nose with flavors of prunes, brown sugar, plums and slight smoke, very good lasting finish dm9831 (571), Monee, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2008 pours deep ruby color, generous head, some lacing. nose of plum, malt, sweet fruit and alcohol. flavor is sweety, plummy, malty. oh yeah. and alcoholy. palate is oily, medium bodied. overall, although it is pretty fruity, it is also highly alcoholic, so if you are in a real hurry to get drunk, this just might be the beer for you. cheers. and enjoy! Berserkir (25), California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours dark ruby brown with a nice head. Dark fruit, brown sugar and malt. Very sweet flavor with a nice subdued alcohol bite. Very drinkable. Pinball (353), Allerød, Denmark Aug 11, 2008 what a great beer. alc.% should not keep you away well rounded aroma, very well balanced taste, with a tendency to the sweet end. ends a little bitter and with a reduced version of the original flavor. truly a work of art. my score is too low.
