brettpace (174), Northridge, California, USA Oct 23, 2005 This is a great beer, got a glass in front of me right now. A little pricey at 3.49 for 11.5 ounces. The alcohol flavor is well hidden compared to some other strong ales I have tasted and doesnt knock your socks off, especially for 10.5%, I like that. Also, the flavor is pretty tasty, nice and sweet. Im seriously thinking about pouring this over some pancakes. One of the better beers I have had. Decent purchase, bang for buck.
TheJollyOne (46), Kofu, Japan Nov 29, 2008 Poured a dark clear brown with a little tan head. Smelled of brown bread, sweet malt and dark walnuts. Sweet opening taste, brown surgar, toffee, malt sweetness, nice long caramel malt aftertaste. Medium on the palate, slightly bubbly. Nice beer, very full taste, almost a meal. Very good! VTHopHead (709), Barre, Vermont, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle - Poured a dark amber in color with a medium foamy tan head that stuck around. Aroma is malty and sweet with hints of dark fruit and faint of spicy hops. Flavor was an intense mix of malty sweetness, estery fruitiness, caramel and a small amount of hops. Initially fairly sweet, but gives way to some hoppy bitterness at the end. Nice full palate. A good effort... worth seeking out again... TheGrandMaster (1526), Auckland, New Zealand Nov 27, 2008 Bottle (in NZ). Pours a dark brown with a foamy off white head. Christmas pudding on the nose. A full mouthfeel, warming toffee malt on the palate, with a spicy fruit swallow. Yum! Gypsy19 (254), AMERICA RISING, USA Nov 21, 2008 Wow, this stuff is fuckin’ good. All kinds of flavors burst in your mouth upon first sip. Lots of gooey brown sugar, malt, toffee, and caramel are present. Very complex and creamy. I love it. Thanks, Draak. bobinlondon (280), Harrow, Greater London, England Nov 21, 2008 Bottle at home with friend. Very complex ale with good balance between rich sugary malts, fruits and hop bitterness. Has taken an hour to finish the glass and it is growing on me all the time.
