ChainGangGuy (1524), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Apr 18, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, dark brown body with a huge, frothy, off-white head.
Smell: Full aroma brings forth notes of dark caramel malt, plums (and prunes), dark candi sugar, and even brown sugar. You can smell that alcohol lurking in there, too, along with a noticeable sourness.
Taste: Sugar-infused caramel maltiness. A distinct fruitiness delivers a taste of stewed plums. Dash of brown sugar liqueur, if there was such a thing. Small hint of dried banana chips. Sour yeastiness. Warming finish with lingering tastes of fruit and sugar.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body with some chewiness to it. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s a tripel wrapped in a +2 Cloak of Maltiness. For that, it’s okay, as long you don’t mind the high level of sweetness and glaring alcohol presence.
ucusty (1016), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 29, 2008 Poured deep ruby red with a nice, long lasting tan head. Lightly roasty and mostly chocolate malts with a hint of brett. Soft and thick palate - reminded me of a chocolate milkshake! The finish was full of dark sugar and warming alcohol. Overall this beer is a little too hot Damico (50), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 This quadrupel looks more like a thick stout than an ale because of its rich, dark, motor oil color. The thick creamy taste also give the impression of a stout. This is smooth and delicious, especially on tap in the correct 10.5 oz glass/sifter. blutt59 (657), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 16, 2008 bottle, dark amber color, malty nose with flavors of prunes, brown sugar, plums and slight smoke, very good lasting finish dm9831 (572), Monee, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2008 pours deep ruby color, generous head, some lacing. nose of plum, malt, sweet fruit and alcohol. flavor is sweety, plummy, malty. oh yeah. and alcoholy. palate is oily, medium bodied. overall, although it is pretty fruity, it is also highly alcoholic, so if you are in a real hurry to get drunk, this just might be the beer for you. cheers. and enjoy! Berserkir (26), California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours dark ruby brown with a nice head. Dark fruit, brown sugar and malt. Very sweet flavor with a nice subdued alcohol bite. Very drinkable.
