Ansset13 (124), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Nov 17, 2007 The pour is a nice golden brown, with plenty of head. The nose is complex, and even greater so with a little bit of breathing. It caramel, dried fruits and many spices to be extremely well balanced triple. The favor, like the aroma is complex and quite great, hints of dried fruit, belgian candy sugar, yeast. The overall experience hides it’s alcohol content better that the legendary Scaldis brand, and is a true pleasure to drink. Will be drinking this again, and maybe quite often.
Caleb1035 (33), , North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 33 cl bottle poured to trappist glass with amber/brown body and thin caramel colored head that slowly dissipates. Aroma is malt and figs. The taste is sweet with surprisingly thin mouth-feel. Slight alcohol aftertaste that warms the belly. Overall an excellent beer (don’t chill it too much) Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Dark reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark fruit, raisins, prunes and dark cherries. Malty taste with dark fruit, prunes, raisins, sweet malt and a decent spicy/herbal bitterness in the finish. Full bodied. Definitely on the sweet side with lots of alcohol shining through. Nice, tasty and warming. SamGamgee (585), Santa Cruz, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 33cl bottle. Dark red-brown with a lasting beige head. A very nice looking beer. Aroma of dried apricot, cherry, toffee, chocolate, and dusty yeast. Intensely sweet, with lots of bright berry fruit and alcohol. Fat, sticky body, but the copious carbonation cuts it decently. An intense beer, but not really very drinkable. A bit hard to finish by the end, due to the intense sweetness and alcohol. Rynoplasty (234), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 29, 2008 Pours dark amber brown with a nice off white/cream colored head. Aroma is malty and slightly fruity. Taste is big and malty as well with a little bit of warming in the finish. Bradrcr (617), Renton, Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 9/29/08 On draught at the Taphouse, Bellevue, Wa. Aroma is very fruity, but not perfumy, with tart sweetness and a candilike tone, good, but a bit more one-dimensional than expected. Appearance is slightly cloudy brown with a very well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is earthy, sweet, slightly tart malt that loses its sourness after a few sips, even without warming. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, moderately creamy, with a very low carb texture. Overall, quite good, I was glad to see the slight improvement with further drinking.
