330 ml bottle, for my birthday! Who cannot be intrigued by that white bottle? Pop the bottle for a heady smell of sugary molasses and alcohol.over a grainy base. Pour is dark and cloudy; I may have gotten some of the yeast into it. Totally missed seeing the head, it went away that fast. Despite a continuation of sugar in the nose, the first sip is not as sweet, being balanced by dry sherry notes. Very thin carbonation detracts from my impressions of other Belgian strongs. Chewy caramels come through, then a bit of Coca-Cola-with-whiskey. Now I know that this style covers a wide range of beers, so it’s hard to compare, but I suspect I may have a slightly off bottle. Darn! I’ll have to go try another one sometime!

Served in trappist glass- poured brownish amber with copper tints, low-medium carbonation, clump of off tan bubbles in the middle for a head, some spotting lacing. Aroma of alcohol, brown sugar, and figs. Hits the mouth with a well defined medium body, very sticky throughout, tons of flavors ranging from candy sugar to hardwood to allspice, finish lingers around until you take another sip. It’s not Westy 12, but it’s real close...

Sep 1, 2008 Dark reddish brown, huge tan head. Enticing aroma of fruit, spice, whiskey, figs, caramel. Huge flavor of caramel/molasses, figs, spices, maple syrup. The aroma is just a bit too faint, but the flavor is great. Slightly lighter in body than I expected.

Aug 31, 2008 33 cl bottle - Pours a deep amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head that faded somewhat quickly for a Belgian ale. Very light lacing. Aroma is mainly esters, light malt and alcohol. Well, flavor is much of the same. I think the alcohol detracts from this beer. Medium body. A decent beer.

Aug 29, 2008 Poured deep ruby red with a nice, long lasting tan head. Lightly roasty and mostly chocolate malts with a hint of brett. Soft and thick palate - reminded me of a chocolate milkshake! The finish was full of dark sugar and warming alcohol. Overall this beer is a little too hot

Aug 17, 2008 This quadrupel looks more like a thick stout than an ale because of its rich, dark, motor oil color. The thick creamy taste also give the impression of a stout. This is smooth and delicious, especially on tap in the correct 10.5 oz glass/sifter.
