Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Poured into tulip. about 1/2 inch head. Nice amber color. Smells sweet with a little caramel. Tastes the same. Very smooth but definitely hard to follow with another beer as this one is so big. Highly recommend it

An interesting Ale. Very light tasting of fruits. Smells same. I didn’t think it was thick enough to eat but it definitely has substance. It poured brown and tasted fine. I like this one and would buy it again.

Pours a dark brown hue with garnet highlights, modest tan head sustains, sticky lacing on the glass. Nose is big dark fruits mostly with big malts, slight grassy-floral hops, and toffee. Flavor is thick syrupy molasses, brown sugar, toffee with raisins, plums, and figs up front, transitions to some lighter hop flavors of grass, earth, and floral, a touch of alcohol warmth in the sweet finish. Full body, thick texture, mild carbonation. A solid Belgian strong ale somewhere in the Tripel-Quad stylings, the heat builds slowly and limits drinkability, a touch cloying with the rich fruit syrup qualities.

Reddish brown in color. Decent amount of carbonation with a light, creamy head. Lots of malts, caramel, and fruity notes. Very acidic palate. Overall a pleasant experience. Also see Chimay Red and Three Philosophers.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a moderate, frothy, dense white head. Lacing is somewhat weak. Aromas of bananas, cereal, raisins, bread. Palate is very smooth with a full body, creamy texture, and long finish. Taste of bananas, raisins, and bread. This is a very good beer but the Christmas version is even better!

Great dark brown robe, headed by a sweet foamy collar. Caramel, citrus, pears, orange and spices aroma. Delightful taste. Strong yeast taste partly masked by spices and caramel touch. A complex but very, very good beer. Can be compared to ABT 12 and Rochefort...

12oz bottle from BC Liquor at Park Royal. Pours a dark, murky brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is musty with sultanas, bread, treacle and complex undertones too nuanced for easy description. Taste is certainly malty at first with the promised toffee sweetness very evident. There’s a little roastiness there as well layered on top of fruitcake notes. Finish is pleasingly bitter and lingering. Alcohol gives good warmth without being overtly boozy. Excellent.

33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Deep brown ruby tinged colour; thin large bubbled head. Raisin, resin and clove aroma. Sweet flavor, mild alcohol for the strength, with a prune and mincemeat pie finish.

Bottle. The color is dark reddish brown, the foam is thick. Aroma of alcohol, cola and fruit. The beer has a warming feeling. Full-bodied, fruity, sweet, malt and yeast. Aftertaste is long and sweet.
