[Bottle from Els.] Nice amber look with good white head. Sweet in the "dortway" with notes of fruits, honey and caramel. A nice beer if you prefer sweet beers.

Copper-golden with a moderate head. The aroma has notes of malt, hops, flower and fruit (dark), the flavour is very full, initially sweet but with a nice hoppy bitter finish. I find notes of malt and fruit, and it’s a nice Dortmunder. 1857

Bottle. [thank you, Anne & Lone]
Pours slightly coppery metallic with a medium, rather creamy white head. Aroma has pale malt, slight caramel and grassy hops. Medium mouthfeel. Flavour is initially bready and biscuity sweet, but there is a peppery and grassy bitterness that helps the sweetness nicely along. A touch of spiciness as well.

bottle - Pours gold with a light hop and pale malt aroma. It has pretty good hops flavor to go with the cereal malt sweetness and has a lightly bitter finish. Not bad.

Draught at De Posthoorn, Maastricht. Copper color with creamy head. Malty, toffeish, caramelly and slightly fruity aroma and flavor. Soft palate and rich fresh maltiness. Much better on draught.

Keg on tap at The Poshoorn, Maastricht. Amber colour with white head. Bittersweet and fruity beer, clear and sharp with a light hoppiness in the body. Reasonable without reaching great heights. The first pub visited after arriving in Maastricht and impressed already.

Has a dark blond appearance and soapy head. There’s a little sweet and sourness in the flavour, some fruitiness, some hop. It’s a full flavour but not a particularly nice one. Nice balance of alcohol/body.
