Commercial Description:
(translated by a Scotsman)
Gulpener Sjoes is a colour rich blend from two classic beer styles. It lends a remarkable taste from a harmony from the craft brewed Gulpener Pilsener and the older known Gulpener Oud Bruin. From this remarkable combination comes a unique beer that has been loved for decades in Limburg pubs.

~ Light aroma of caramel malts and honey. ~Pours a clear light brown with sl creamy white head. ~Light musty hop flavor with lots of caramel malts and honey. Some spiciness from hops. ~light to medium bodied, medium high carbonation, bitter sweet finish. ~Easy drinking brew. Lots of malts making it very sweet.

After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity not wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and evenly of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a clear dark brown color and a sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is light hoppybitter with a roasted caramel touch. This beer smells malty.

30cl Bottle at home. Clear amber colour, slight off white head. Aroma of grain, cardboard, light skunky hops, caramel. Flavour is grain, cardboard, caramel, medium sugary sweet with a light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. The pilsener notes are too sharp IMO, and Oud Bruin is my least favourite beer style. I can’t say this is a match made in heaven..

Bottle: Amber, clear, small foamy off-white layer; grainy-dusty and sweet-fruity nose; mainly sweetish flavour, light bodied, a bit fizzy, empty MF; light sweetish-sourish finish. Not really convincing........

Bottle. Quite malty smell, light sour aroma of bread. A little bit of hops. The white head is small, fizzy and only short lasting. The body is red and clear. The taste is rather sweet and refreshing, not bitter. Normal long duration, the beer is dry and soft. A good one.
