Commercial Description:
(translated by a Scotsman)
Gulpener Sjoes is a colour rich blend from two classic beer styles. It lends a remarkable taste from a harmony from the craft brewed Gulpener Pilsener and the older known Gulpener Oud Bruin. From this remarkable combination comes a unique beer that has been loved for decades in Limburg pubs.

Pale brown in colour. Slightly sweet, malty aroma. Taste is a bit fruity and malty. Very easy to drink and refreshing. This is quite like Palm in many ways but is a tad sweeter, fruitier.

Oud bruin in Holland is a low alcohol beer which is very sweet and typically a women’s beer, not a style i like very much, but combined with a pilsner it gets some backbone. Not that i would get out of my way to get it, but....Caramelish with some hop and grain. Drinkable.

Is this really a flemish sour ale?? Amber with off white head. Malty grainy aroma. Light thin palate. Light malty nutty & no hops. Quite non-saying - no taste of anything really. A lot like a pilsner/lager!

Bottle, IBS Perth BB 2005 Pours a tawny, brassy colour wiht thin white head, aroms is slightly citric and grainy. Flavours are a sweet maltiness up frnt folowed by a vegetative hoppiness in the middle, finish rather tart to sour. Very pleasant, has aged well, whish I had a few more in the cellar

Amber brown, small white head. Aroma is a bit earthy, in an unpleasant way. Flavour: sweet, roasted malt.

Bottle at Frederikshavn øl- og vinfestival 07. Slightly refreshing flavour, a little sweet. Not sour like I expected. Swelling mouthfeel, but in a good way. Pilsner aftertaste.
