Sourish malty nose with a tinge of floral hops and a dense fruitiness. Sweet flavour, medium body. Sweet malty taste with a quite balanced caramel and marzipan finish with a light bitterness. I´m not overwhelmed by this “mixery” style but all in all it´s tasty and even refreshing in spite of its sweetness. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia

Sharp bitter hop malt flavour. Smooth fizzy palate that lingers. bierkoning (6103), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 11, 2005 The sweetness of the oud bruin pushes away the pilsener bitterness. Not surprisingly, ’cause Gulpener pils isn’t very bitter. Creamy, even a bit honeyish but also a bit thin. Not too bad, except for the caramelly bitterness in the aftertaste. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2005 Mix between pilsener and Oud Bruin. Sweetness is overpowering the pilsener, which is a good thing because Gulpener Pilsener is rather bad imo.
Also, sweet caramel, honeylike taste, but very thin.. Hendo (110), Sint Anthonis, Netherlands
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 21, 2004 It’s a blend of pilsener & oud bruin. Two beers in my opinion that don’t have very full tastes combining to make one beer that doesn’t a very full taste. It tastes fine, the pils cancels out oud bruins sweetness, but it is just too thin for me. dodell (3), Deventer, Netherlands does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2004 I rate this beer higher than others have for its very unique sweet taste. With the first sip comes a very subtle and gradually powerful sweet honey-like flavor. The flavor gradually subsides as one drinks more of it (likely due to the acids). I recommend taking sips of water to wash the bitter flavor out in between tasting this beer to experience the flavor again and again. Ungstrup (15430), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 14, 2004 An amber beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of oranges. The flavor is very sweet with notes of honey and a dry end. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark
