Commercial Description:
WinterVrund a royal beer from Limburg (southern part of Holland). A mix of top and bottom fermentation. Brewed at the end of the year with a different recipe every year. Best to be enjoyed with friends ("frun" in Limburgs) giving you a warming feeling inside for the cold winter months. Wintervrund is like all our beers unpasteurised and environment friendly brewed. The best temperature to drink Wintervrund is between 10 and 12 °C. NOTE: 2007 is actually released in the winter 2007/2008.

Bottle. A real christmas beer (I saved a bottle). Nice purple brownish colour, off white head. Aroma of spices, cloves, dark fruits. Flavour of christmas spices, some sour dark fruits, a little medicinal aftertaste.

Bottle. Low and quickly disappearing off-white fluffy head. Hazy orange red body. Artificial smelling berries aroma. Heavily carbonated malt flavor with berries with sour notes. Long strange aftertaste.

[bottle from Antonio] Powdery sugary candy (including banana) aroma with some spicy melanoidiny malt. Clear brownish garnet with wispy off-white top and ring. Sweet toffee flavour with raisin/candy banana and very low bitterness. Nice malty finish and slightly warming. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet. Boring but clean.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a lacing white head. Perfumed and light spiced. Flavour holds more of that same perfumed floral notes. Sweet and light maltbase in addition. Shows a persisting floral finish with a light bitterness.

300 ml bottle. Light brown/dark red body with a small beige head. Aroma is spicy, like a Christmas cake. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, cloce, cardamom, ginger and some kind of bitterness. It’s a lot of Christmas in this beer.

330ml bottle (Bierkoning, Amsterdam) 2007 variety
Rich clear red, tiny head. Spicy aroma - actually like spiced meats! Good malty body, like it’s based on a brown ale. Woody and a bit drying, but a nice balanced spice - not caricatured.
