Commercial Description:
WinterVrund a royal beer from Limburg (southern part of Holland). A mix of top and bottom fermentation. Brewed at the end of the year with a different recipe every year. Best to be enjoyed with friends ("frun" in Limburgs) giving you a warming feeling inside for the cold winter months. Wintervrund is like all our beers unpasteurised and environment friendly brewed. The best temperature to drink Wintervrund is between 10 and 12 °C. NOTE: 2007 is actually released in the winter 2007/2008.

Bottled from AH in Mestreech. pours dark brown with a red shadow. Thin almost no head. Cinammon and clove in the nose. Aroma is sweet sugar, cinnamon and clove. Sweety, spicy flavour. Bitterness is a bit low. I think it is too thin for a winterbeer but otherwise nice

Bottle. Very sweet, cherry. Average creamy off-white head, dark red-brown colour. Started bittersweet, short duration. A little bit like medicine. Light to medium body, dry, soft carbonation. Strange brew...

Dark brown with a red hue. The aroma has notes of candy sugar and cinnamon. The flavour is sweetish with spicy notes of cinnamon and caramel. It has a light, citrussy bitterness.

Aroma is moderate pine needle, light to moderate malty, roasted, caramel, spices / herbs. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration. from crackedkettle.com - clear and dark ruby colour, little beige head leaving a correct lacing; complex nose of cloves and cinnamon, cherries, apples and blood; sweet with a good malt backbone, a low bitterness and a long aftertaste where the spices and fruits play together again, this time with a touch of warming alcohol - a pleasant surprise

Bottle conditioned at A ge Panne, Schin op Geul, NL Limburg. Ruby colour with cream head. What this chap has in his cellar when he gets to know you, and it is a great surprise. This is a smooth Christmas pudding of a beer, Port / Sherry comes to mind too. Raisins, fruit, caramel and spices all mixed in, warming and good.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a low tan head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of berries, and lesser notes of malt, metal, alcohol, fruit - especially apples, and some spices - I pick up cloves. The flavor is quite sweet, but with a good body to back it up, and a very complex mixture of spices (cloves, cinnamon, and coriander), malt, caramel, alcohol, and some fruit. The end is very smooth with notes of spices and caramel lingering around. The alcohol bites slightly in the tongue.
