Commercial Description:
WinterVrund a royal beer from Limburg (southern part of Holland). A mix of top and bottom fermentation. Brewed at the end of the year with a different recipe every year. Best to be enjoyed with friends ("frun" in Limburgs) giving you a warming feeling inside for the cold winter months. Wintervrund is like all our beers unpasteurised and environment friendly brewed. The best temperature to drink Wintervrund is between 10 and 12 °C. NOTE: 2007 is actually released in the winter 2007/2008.

Medium amber beer. Clear. Has a fine, big off-white head, mainly lasting. Don’t like the aroma, an odd kind of hoppyness, sharp and unpleasent. Ok flavor, dark and perhaps some burnt notes.

Bottled (BB 01/2007). Clear dark ruby color, small white head. Spicey Christmasy nose, gingerbread aroma: ginger and clove. Quite light and watery. Lightly roasted malty, lager-like base brew mixed with same spices like in the aroma. Maybe with Christmas food this is satisfactory, but otherwise too weak for being real "winter warmer".
