Commercial Description:
WinterVrund a royal beer from Limburg (southern part of Holland). A mix of top and bottom fermentation. Brewed at the end of the year with a different recipe every year. Best to be enjoyed with friends ("frun" in Limburgs) giving you a warming feeling inside for the cold winter months. Wintervrund is like all our beers unpasteurised and environment friendly brewed. The best temperature to drink Wintervrund is between 10 and 12 °C. NOTE: 2007 is actually released in the winter 2007/2008.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a low tan head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of berries, and lesser notes of malt, metal, alcohol, fruit - especially apples, and some spices - I pick up cloves. The flavor is quite sweet, but with a good body to back it up, and a very complex mixture of spices (cloves, cinnamon, and coriander), malt, caramel, alcohol, and some fruit. The end is very smooth with notes of spices and caramel lingering around. The alcohol bites slightly in the tongue.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a lacing white head. Perfumed and light spiced. Flavour holds more of that same perfumed floral notes. Sweet and light maltbase in addition. Shows a persisting floral finish with a light bitterness.
