Gulpener Witte Kerst 2001 - 2004

[2004 vintage] Clear deep golden with tiny short lasting head. Aroma is somewhat oxidized but holds notes of overripe fruits. Sweet fruity flavor with notes of yeat, caramel and toasted malt.

33 cL bottle. Pours slight cloudy with a lacing white head. Aroma is spiced and slight oxidised. Sweet malty flavour. Light spice note in the finish. Flavour is more fresh than the aroma. Ends with a lingering sweet caramel malt and light fruity note.

[Tastted in 2004.] A mainstream beer with notes of fruits, spices and maltyness. Medium finish and a little thin.

Bottled. Vintage 2004. Amber coloured. Malty aroma with notes of caramel. Sweet malty flavour. Unfortunately, slightly unclean.

Bottle. Clear amber coloured with a white head. Sweeta roma of malts, caramel, bread and fruits. Sweet flavour of malts, bread and fruits. Light hoppy finish.

Amber orange colour with a small off white head. Malty and grainy aroma with some caramel sweetness. Malty, light spicy flavor, some caramel sweetness and a light dry finish.

2004 Edit. - When I poured the beer in the glass, there was simply no head! The color of the body is Belgian Ale like. Flavor a bit disappointing, not very complex.

(Bottle 30 cl) Vintage 2003 - apparently the recipe changes every year. The back-label claims that this is both top- AND bottom-fermented. I’ve seen this before but still don’t understand the principle. Dark amber, filtered, no head to talk about. Malty and sweet with a rather discreet hoppiness. Fine if not exactly thrilling. (Had somehow expected a wheat-beer "Witte", but I reckon "Witte Kerst" just means "White Christmas".) 280405
