Commercial Description:
Golden Valley Cider takes its name from the small corner of Herefordshire where cider has been made in the traditional way for centuries. Local apples are pressed and the juice transferred into oak barrels where it is left to mature naturally in the time honored way. The romantic Age of Steam and olde-worlde agriculture may be long gone but here at least the Golden Taste of Real Cider still lives on.

Cask… Cloudy yellow cider with no head. The aroma is a touch acidic and very reminiscent of three-day-old sliced apples. Medium-bodied and watery with no carbonation. Tastes like apple cider that I stuck in the fridge until it fermented a bit. Sweet with just a whisper of acidity. Finishes bone-dry and a touch abrasive. Not bad - not altogether good.

Pours hazy golden. Aroma of apple and pear juice. Flavor is apples and a little acid, with a dry finish. Certainly gets better as it warms.

Cask @ Redlight. Light caramel colored pour. Pleasant sweet apple aroma, not cloying and a little citrus. Musty apple skin, vinegar taste. Pleasant easy to drink cider.

Cask @ redlight redlight. Very light blonde, no head. Slight apples in the nose, some lemons. Musty, apples with skins. A strong tannic astringency, at almost tea-like levels.

Cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow color. A swirl of the glass shows a thin body. The nose is oddly tart, with a bit of wild yeast funk and tannic apple skins. Semi-dry, dusty, and earthy. Flavors are nearly as wild, again very dry and tannic, with a good amount of tart yeastiness. Thin bodied, very dry, and dusty. Interesting, wild cider.

cask @ redlight redlight. Sweet apple aromas with a woody earthy nose. Pours very light yellow. Very slight tartness upfront followed, mellow, natural apple flavor, earthy flavors. Very nice to drink.

Bottle. Cloudy orange/brown, quite still. Aromas are sweet and sour apple juice with an earthy woodiness, fairly musty. Flavours are initially sweet and syrupy apples followed by lots of dry woodiness. Very dry on the aftertaste. Typical of a scrumpy.

This is my very first cider! But I'm not sure what to think of it. Fruity nose, reminded me of some lambics. Bit sour, bit alcoholic. Clear golden brown coloured, no head. Tastes like apple, bit empty. Slightly alcoholic, but fruity palate. It's okay, but I don't have any idea how high I should rate this one.
