Commercial Description:
Traditional dry farmhouse cider. The Kingston Black apple is the most famous apple in the cider making world. Dating back centuries, the variety originated in Somerset, but by the 1800s it had spread all over England & Wales. A favourite with the old farming communities and their traditional way of cider making; often kept for the vintage house cider and drunk on special occasions. There have been various new strains of this variety grown but none to match the taste of the old. Matured in oak barrels with natural yeasts.

GBBF 2005: Hazy golden appearance. Aroma of wood and apples. Very acidic and powerfull. It is a fantastic cider and very sour. Extremely spicey as well. The dryness and the woods are working together to perfection. This is the real thing!

Bottle conditioned. Clear golden colour. Aroma of apples: flavours are apples, acidic, woody, sour with a dry finish. Very good cider.

Bottle conditioned (from Southwick Brewhouse, BBE May 07). Much less fruity than the Gwatkin Yarlington Mill I tried the night before but it has that classic west country cider nose. Fairly austere and light with what for some might be fairly challenging acidic flavours and some tannic wood. The only problem I found is the bottle conditioning and therefore sparkling body tends to emphasise the thinner more negative aspects but tasty all the same.

Gravity, a tasty appley single varietal cider tasted some oak but little or no sulphite, the casks are probably less treated than the bottles. Bottling does emphasise some flavors.

Bottle, at Cardinal. A clear, golden cider ith a diminishing white head. Some alcohol, quite heavy apple aroma, hints of cellar, and vinegar on the nose. Nice flavor with alcohol and lemony tartness, hints of vinegar and a good taste of apples and apple cores. Dry, warming and astringent. Apples, some alcohol and tartness in the finish. A lovely cider in my book, good tartness and really filled with apples. 090728

Based on the Draught cider, a flavourful cider with some oak. Very enjoyable available at most decent festivals

Bottle at Københavnske Øldage 2007. Clear golden amber - no head. High fruity, apple, woody. Turbo dry. Very nice.
