Dark, very darik brown. quite oily look look, with a tiny orangy hue and a huge medium brown head.
It looks tempting!
Putting my nose in the glas gives me hope of something good.
Lots of coffee, bitter coffee. Tar!
Good mouthfeel, with a little oiliness, and a little carbonation with tiny bubles.
The finish is a bit watery though, and I wonder why? Is that because it is "only" 8.5%?
Lots of taste in this drink. Again coffee, but also lots of caramel. Then lots of bitter tasts like liquorice and tar and car tyres...
As it warms up to room temp, it gets even better, and like many Imps, it is best at this temperature. It is even more oily
This is a good beer. I will rebuy. robertjm (418), El Cerrito, California, USA

As soon as I popped the cap there was a huge aroma of brown sugars and old rubber bands (sounds strange, but the most descriptive I could come up with). Dark dark body. Thick brown head made up of tiny soap-like buttons. Must be using dark malts in with the wheat as the flavor has light roasting as the first thing that comes to mind. Warming in the throat. Bottle of bottle is thick with sediment so must be bottle conditioned/aged. Even though the side-by-side ratings don’t reflect it, I think I could drink this wheat stout a lot more often then the Avenitus Wheat Wine, which doesn’t hide its "wheatyness" at all. Really dark brown, nearly black with a off white good sized head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and yeast. Taste is complex and full of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt, hints of sweet fruits, plums.

Nose is bourbon, roasted malt, coconut, earth, and some noticeable smoke. Flavor is fizzy and smokey- roasted malt, some bourbon notes, coconut. Nice beer with an interesting mix of flavors. tgncc (851), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Wheat stout. Very interesting concept. Beautiful aroma of oak, vanilla, plums, ripe dark fruits, coffee. The roasted quality not greatly in evidence here. The appearance is an opaque jet black, thin tan head. The flavor is mostly chocolate, more sweet than bitter, molasses, dark fruit, and a surprisingly low roasted quality again. The finish is the only place where hops make an appearance, and it’s a mild but noticeable bitterness that brings this beer to a nice finish. I’m surprised that I didn’t pick up more on the wheat malt (no taste of wheat, grain, banana, clove, or anything that is normaly associated with a wheat ale.) very enjoyable none the less.
