Pours a dense black with a large brown head that lasted until the end and left lots of sticky lace all the way to the bottom. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, raisins, and alcohol. The flavor is toasted whole wheat bread (burnt but not blackened), raisins, a bit of chocolate, and a fairly strong flavor of alcohol. No real heat from the alcohol, but definitely a presence in the flavor. Moderate bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. Very enjoyable! zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA

Smells of coffee and sweet fruit, roasted malt and alcohol. Tastes the same as aroma. Nice clean up on the finish, leaves a smaller version of the beer behind. Silky; may be the wheat. My beer was one month old. janir (215), Oulu, Finland
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2008 Very dark, black color. Beige head is slightly creamy and velvety. Strong aroma: roasted malts, licorice and also alcohol can be sensed. Aroma is also somewhat sour. Very much roasty malty flavor got also salty licorice and coffee in aftertaste. Medium-bodied and foamy carbonated palate. Taverner (857), San Ramon, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2008 Excellent IS. Pours black with a soapy tan head that goes away without lacing quickly. Flavor is raisins, black currants, licorice, chocolate, sesame and smoke. The Wheat gives it a smoothness that makes this a dangerous beer. bermod (119), Jyväskylä, Finland

Flavor is very burnt, cocoa and coffee. Like Koff Porter, but much more burnt and thinner mouthfeel. Relatively thin body. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2008 Black in color with a thick head of fine brown bubbles. The aromas are of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, anise and some citric hops. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with lots of carbonation to keep this feeling light and fresh. The flavors followed the nose in this well-balanced beer. Nothing was out of place but nothing was overly exciting either. Juelze (905), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is of chocolate and coffee and intense fruit. Taste is chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit with anise and wheat. Carbonation is mild and palate is creamy. Good stuff. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2008 Pours black with a large mocha head. Aroma is oddly sour and fruity, with some grassiness, some chocolate and dark roasts. This reminds me more of a Baltic Porter. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Pretty good with a decent mouthfeel.
