Black with a brown head. Roasted tones, some coffee and chocolate. Also some smokiness.
Coffee and burnt tones, but also a certain sweetness. I also feel slight hints of vanilla and nuts. Pleasant bitterness. The relatively high alcohol content of 9%, I felt not at all. Fluid seemed rather dry and a bit thinner than a "normal" Imperial stout. A lot of chocolate in the aftertaste. madmitch76 (645), , Essex, England

Rich thick malt with a ninerally tone and a sry bitterish coffee finish. A shade too bitter. Heathen (810), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2009 THOUGHTS: I thought this would be either great or awful. It definitely wasn’t awful. A very different imperial stout, but still definitely an impy. I half expected just some sort of double weizen bock.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, brown that was opaque, black in the glass with a large, light brown head that kept a decent sheet. The aroma was moderate to heavy strong coffee and mocha, lighter dark chocolate, moderate hops, moderate spicy yeast, smoke, soy sauce, prune and other dark fruit and slight wheat. The initial flavor was sweet and bitter; while the finish was very sweet and rather bitter with a long duration. There was chocolate syrup, strong coffee, balancing hops that blended with the coffee bitterness, dark fruit, slight wheat, slightly minty hops, yeast, prune, black cherry and more dark fruit. The full body was sort of creamy, but also oily. Silky might best describe it, but thicker that most beers I would describe as silky. There was lightly fizzy carbonation and a light astringent, light alcoholic and ever so slight metallic finish. Bigmmartin (375), Dayton, Ohio, USA

Damn dark beer with a thing brown head. Aroma is full of roasted malts and some alcohol. Flavor is deep roasted, sweet, chewy malts, that end with a bitter finish. Slight alcohol burn.Overall, a strong stout. carruthm (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Bottle from Bergen bottle shop. Aroma is chocolatey with a hint of fruit to it. Notes of wheat and malt and maybe creme brulee. Very inviting. Pour was really really lively, surprising for such a dark brew. Black body with a giant dark tan, leather colored head on top. Taste is bitter but nuanced with coffee and cocoa Snegurochka (69), Tromsø, Norway
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Dark brown. Head like chocolate mousse. Rich aroma of freshly-ground coffee, malt and wheat, this impression is mirrored in the flavour: the hint of toffee balance the noticeable taste of coffee somewhat. (Thanks to Rune for sharing a bottle at a beer session in Tromsø 02.apr.09)
