Pours black with a nice chewy brown head and great lacing. Flavor is heavy on the chocolate both up front and in the finish. Dry and powdery but in a good way. Roasted malts, alcohol and wheat mix themselves in there for an interesting brew. Palate is dry and sticky. I always like something different and this one comes through. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 12, 2007 1 pint 0.9 oz. Bottle, 9%alc, label - Batch NR 74, pours very black with a big creamy dark tan head, the bubbles clung together pretty
well as a team when moving on the sides of the glass, aroma of big chocolate, dark chocolate, some chocolate cake mix, roasted malt, faint cherry, berries,
rum and raisin, a woodsy aroma, dark wheat, faint coffee and alcohol in the background, burnt molasses, faint yeast earthiness, some smokiness, great
aromas, roasted malt, strong coffee bitterness, bitter chocolate, some malt sweetness, taste of dark fruit, berries and currants(?) that appear just before the
finish, faint smoky chared wood flavor, has a berry bitterness at the finish that is different and distinguishes itself from the other impy stouts I have had,
a medium hop bitterness at the finish, chocolate flavor rides with the berries from first sip to the last drop, hmm hmm good, lots of carbonation makes its light
on the palate and not as thick on the palate as some other stouts, a little over carbonated, not as sweet as the typical Impy Stout it has more bitterness
but has complex flavors to keep the palate interesting, I recommend it. alexanderj (2284), Chino Hills, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours opaque (light tested) with an average, frothy, dark brown head, mostly lasting with very good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (dark roasted grain, toasted nut, dark chocolate), average hops (perfume, flowers), average yeast (leather, earth) with notes of prunes, licorice and smoke. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. I was hoping for more mouth feel with this one; it seemed way to carbonated. The aroma also lacked some as I also expected more in-your-face malty character. Nonetheless, a really good offering. dchmela (1466), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2007 Pours out black with a huge white head that slowly dissipates. Slight chocolate malt aroma, maybe too cold to get a good aroma. Taste is BIG dry chocolate malt with a thick mouthfeel. Just a hint of wheat in the taste also, wow this just keeps coming at you! Very interesting. SoylentBlack (100), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2007 At first sip I thought maybe I wouldn’t be able to drink this. Way too over the top was my first impression . But the finish on this brew is just fantastic. Flavour is your typical heavy dark chocolate stout, and once your mouth gets over that initial shock, the rest is pure heaven. I was sad when the bottle was gone.
