Commercial Description:
"Double" (imperial) wheat stout.
This imperial really strikes back. From a strange country far, far away, comes the only Imperial Wheat Stout in the known universe. Once again, the ’Hand’ brewery - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - boldly goes where no brewery has gone before.
US version is 9%.

(Draught at Olympen, Oslo, 6 Nov 2009) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, espresso, dark bread, cocoa and raisins. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, cocoa, black coffee, dark fruit and a generous cocoa bitterness in the finish. Slightly vinous with a certain alcohol bite. Some wheaty sourness lurks in the background. Full body, balanced sweetness. Complex beer. Very nice!

Bottle. Quite special imperial stout. Hoppy and with lots of roasted malt. There is also an oaky, smoked quality to it.

Close to black with a small light brown head. Aroma is fruity with light roasted notes of coffe and chocolate. Flavour is very fruity, "bright" and yeasty with very mellow acidic roasted notes. Has a good bitterness and roasted kick in the finish with lingering fruit notes. Rather mellow and uncomplicated.

Deep chestnut color with a medium tan head that lasts a long time, and leaves good lacing. Aroma of bourbon and oak. Great maltiness with notes of caramel, but not overly sweet; well-balanced. Light spice in the background. Very good body. Excellent brew overall, to be sought after. Best beer of the night at Churchkey.

A uniq imperial stout made from wheat. Fruity, dark, a bit oily - very nice and unusual. Good balance.

500ml bottle, batch #144 brewed March 2008, from green’s in columbia, sc. pours a silky, deep, dark brown (almost black) with a beautiful, dark chocolate brown head and great lacing. aroma is excellent with smoked, ashy wood notes, chocolate, mild roast coffee, pumpernickel bread, and hints of salty soy and dark fruits. flavor is great as well with big, smokey, burnt malts, black coffee grinds, and licorice up front backed by mildly sweet toffee, roasted almonds, and bittersweet dark chocolate with hints of black cherry and earthy hops adding balance and a lingering bitter and ashy, almost cigar-like, finish. palate is full bodied and smooth with prickly carbonation for such a big imperial stout and not a trace of the 9%abv. overall, a damn good brew.

Aroma of soil, metal, malt, alcohol, chocolate and yeast. Appearance is black with enormous brown head with big bubbles. Taste of coffee, chocolate, soil and liquorish. Overall this beer is to raw and sharp and therefor not as good as I’ve expected.
