Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 13, 2007 The beer pours from the 500ml bottle an onyx color, the head a magnificent crown of creamy chocolate brown, as it evaporates every so slowly, the lace forms a sticky thick sheet to cover the glass. Nose rich in sweet roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a slight floral aroma also noticed, earthy and delightful to see and smell. Start has a pronounced malt presence, sweet and the hops and roasted grain add a nice bitter bite at the back, top is rich and full to the palate. Finish is merciful in its acidity, the hops sturdy in their spiciness; maybe a touch of alcohol bitterness, very dry and the aftertaste clings mightily to the palate, a fine addition to the style.
charlotte (1096), Vanløse, Denmark Jul 7, 2008 pitch black with large creamy head.Aroma of rosted coffee and burnt malt.Flavor of wheat, fig, licorice.Strong hidden alc,but well balanced with smooth finish. redlem (1087), Illinois, USA Jul 4, 2008 I bought into the whole 4 guys brewing thing plus the "wheat stout" part intrigued me. Well it is nothing more than an Imperial stout with no wheat characteristics. There is a roasted bitter coffee aroma. An opaque black color. Taste is medium bitter with a decent body and visosity. An averge at best IS, or should I say boring. cbeers21 (348), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours an ominous deep black with sizeable chocolate colored head. Roasted coffe on both aroma and taste, as well as a layered and biting bittering hops character towards the back. Toasted aspects dominate but there are some balancing light fruit notes and distant sweetness. Nice brew. fordest (1655), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jun 28, 2008 From the bottle via trade. Very nice aromas off this Very dark beer. Somewhat fruity and roasty. Less fruit on the flavor. Hints of wheat twang and lots of roasted/burnt malts on the finish. Not to shabby.
