akevitt (93), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Apr 18, 2008 Batch #74. The beer was brown with huge head. In the aroma I got mild hops, coffee.
In the flavor I got mild hops, coffee/burnt malt. The beer was smooth & thick like a milkshake.
espenra (97), Oslo, Norway Aug 16, 2008 50cl bottle from Bar&Cigar. Batch 137. 9% abv. It poured a black colour with a small light-brown head that settles down fast in the glass. The aroma smells of malts, wheats, alcohol and coffee. The flavour is bitter and tastes of malts, wheats, alcohol and dark chocolate. It has a lingering aftertaste. fb (46), Norway Aug 16, 2008 Bottle 50 cl, batch 127. I have tried this once before, at Cardinal last year (batch 60). A little on the sweet side, bute still good. A bit fizzy. buzzoven (93), Japan Aug 15, 2008 Very deep black with a huge dark brown head...I had to give this one a 4-5 stage pour just to let the head settle. Rummy smell of raisins on the nose and a little bit of coffee in the flavour. This is a very interesting stout that really isn’t as "extreme" as the name implies...but more of a focused, balanced and mature brewing effort. Goes down very very smooth and the drinkability factor is high, so with an ABV of 9% you’ll have to watch out! According to the label, these guys brew on their spare time in small batches, which I predict will be changing soon once people start getting their hands on this wonderful stuff. Flyer (104), Hartland, Wisconsin, USA Aug 14, 2008 A big, big stout with a lot going on. Pours inky dark with a creamy head. Aroma is smoky. Initial flavor impression is vinous, quickly followed by raisin/prune and a powerul undercurrent of roasty/burnt coffee notes. Ambitious without being over the top. Recommended. HenrikSoegaard (2985), Randers, Denmark Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Very roasted heavy bitter flavor. Lots of chocolate notes. Creamy palate. Excellent.
