Commercial Description:
Dobbel Dose or Dobbel Dram is a double IPA made with european style hops rather than US hops. This beer is also heavily dryhopped in the aging tank for the extra hop taste and aroma.
9% alc. 82 ibu and 22 ebc. Made from Maris Otter malt, wheat malt and Crystal.
Serve at 10-12C or 50-55F. Goes well with spicy food and grilled meat. American Bottle Label -- "Double Dram" is made with more of everything, including all the hops the Hand Brewery’s tiny brew-kettle can take. Feisty American hops for bittering are followed by noble Fuggles and Styrian Goldings for a spicy, flowery aroma. As tradition dictates, this is an exceptionally hardy brew, made to weather the long, hard ocean voyage to anywhere...

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small and shortlived head. Aroma is light citrusy and woody hoppy with a light caramel note and yeast. Smooth fruity hops flavour with a solid caramel malt base and a lasting yeasty flavour. Sweet caramel flavour into the finish with a declining bitterness. Lasting yeasty impression.

Brewed 04-08. BB 04-11. Pours a murky, coppery-orange color with a moderately full, white, pillowy head which has decent longevity and leaves some lace. Nose is pungent with lots of doughy yeast overtones and hops underneath with unripe oranges, floral tones, and pepper; other notes of apricots and sweet breads. Flavor is certainly unique with a lot going on; lots of residual sugars, lots of doughy yeast, lots of bitterness. Unripe oranges, coriander, sweet breads, earth notes, pepper, faint pine. Palate is oily, lively, medium to full, and warm with alcohol. Finishes fairly long with sugars lingering to match the bitter notes of floral and pine and some yeast still in there. Certainly not lacking any complexity but nothing seemed to fit together. Not really surprising considering their IPA but it was interesting.

Drinking from a bottle of "Dobbel Dram" bought somewhere in the Chicago area... can’t remember... I am, after all, a grumpy old man according to one of the admins. Anywhere - This pours a somewhat hazed pale amber body with a reasonable head but little lacing. The aroma is an interesting blend of floral and citrus hops with some caramel scents oozing through as the drink warms. Medium bodied. The flavor begins with a rush of citric bitterness, unripe oranges and zest, followed at the midpoint by a light malty sweetness. That’s soon displaced by a surge of citrus and floral bitterness that lingers for along, long while to come. Very nice brew for this grumpy old hop-head.

Thanks to BDR for the bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aromas of pine, resin, a bit of floral notes, some malt and soap. Flavors of earthy hops, floral hops, and some earthy notes. A nice malt backbone is represented well here too.

Bottle. Amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Spicy, grapefruit, light floral aroma. Grapefruit, spice, and earth flavor. Medium-plus bodied with some creaminess. Balanced bitterness. Spice, grapefruit, light pine, and light earth lingers.

Bottle 50 cl. Hazy amber golden with a bubbly off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Herbal and medicinal aroma. Quite full-bodied, fruity with some yeast. Somewhat astringent finish, again hebal with something reminding me of cough syrup. Surprisingly low in bitterness. 231208
