KnutAlbert (2165), Oslo, Norway Aug 14, 2008 0,5 l bottle from Vinmonopolet Briskeby.
Dark brown, low pearly carbonation.
Rodenbach-like Belgian sourness. Fruity, no feeling of malt beneath the acidity.
Lovely beer, but not for beginners! tarjei (1131), Bryne, Norway Jul 19, 2008 50 cl bottle - thank you very much, yngwie! Dark brown coolor. The head is almost not there, just some beige bubbles. Aroma is oak, fruit and berries - and very vinous. Flavor is oak, dark fruit and berries and lovely sourness. Very nice sweet and sour finish, with long aftertaste of dark fruit and berries. Not too much sweetness, and that makes this beer so much better than it could have been! Almost like drinking a wine with lots of oak- but this is better than most spanish and other oak-wines I have tasted. Wow! Ole_R (1167), Oslo, Norway Jul 15, 2008 Bottle, batch #49 @ Bar&Cigar, Oslo. Pours a near opaque, dark nut-brown body. Mostly diminishing two-finger greyish coarse head. Initial aroma of dry, unripe berries. Then a strong fruity acidity, vineagar notes, and a noticeable scent of wood and alcohol. Taste has a utterly fresh and fruity sourness. Berries, citrus and unripe green apples. Notes of vinegar and oak. A hint of fruity sweetness in the background. Alcohol blends discreetly in. Soft carbonation and extremely easy drinkable considering the high abv. Everlasting fruity-sour finish. Excellent. thebeertourist (1764), Oslo, Norway Jul 11, 2008 Bottle. Surprisingly healthy beige head- it was rather more headless when tasted at the brewery. Dark brown colour. Vinous nose, potent sour fruit, mostly cherry, and yoghurt. Complex flavours. Sour fruits lead the way, but blends with dry wood. Also some softening vanilla as well as malty sweetness, even marcipane. Dry finish that cries out for another sip. The end result is a well-balanced sour ale that should not scare anyone - I think I have found my favourite Norwegian beer (too bad they are shipping most of it to the US). larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Jul 9, 2008 Medium beige head does not last. Nearly opaque dark red body goes translucent near edges. Sweetish vinuous wooden yoghurty aroma with notes of wild berries and alcohol. Sour wooden vinuous wild berry and cherry taste. Some sweetness, but the dry sourness really dominates. (Strange. I remember the sample we tried at the brewery two months ago as much sweeter.) Thin-bodied. Dry-sweet-sour cherry wood and lingonberry aftertaste. An extreme beer that’s pretty tough to drink, but definitely an excellent beer. (0.5l bottle, Bar & Cigar, Oslo. Rated twice.)
