alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Nov 7, 2009 Sample @ DLD09. Poured a hazy dark reddish brown color with a small beige head. The nose was woody tart cherries with a slight vinegar quality. Flavor was more tart cherry combined nicely with wood, caramel, and slight vinegar. This had an earthiness that went nicely with everything else. Slight alcohol as it warmed. one of the earlier beers in the day. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Nov 1, 2009 Bottle split with Dallas. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and brown lacing - very interesting body/head for a sour. A decent amount of sediment present as well. The aroma is sour cherry, tartness, and other fruit. The flavor is not overly sour, great notes of sour apple, cherry - finishes with dry tartness. ditmier (1019), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 27, 2009 2008 Bottle - Thanks BuckeyeBoy! - Pours dk amber with a medium beige head...aroma is immediately ascorbic, dk fruit, vinegar, tart oak...flavour is similar, woody and tannic, dark berries, dry maltiness...this suprised the hell out of me, really liked this! jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Sep 29, 2009 Deep reddish brown coloured body with a nice thin (one centimetre) tan head that leaves a nice lace on the glass before fading completely. Aroma of super tart cherries, grapes, vinegar, citric acid and a dose of basement funk and lightly malty. Light to Medium-bodied; Super tart and citric flavours of cherries up front fades to a very bitter acidic vinegar and tart finish with a slight bit of sweetness. Aftertaste shows metal and a very strong bitterness, but the tart cherries and concord grapes still are coming through, leaving the mouth tart. Very dry and tart at the finish - I wish most beers could have these qualities! Overall, a very nice flemish sour, definitely worth trying if you like the style, but only missing perhaps a few small characteristics they could pick up from Cantillon. Still, a great beer - very nice from the Norwegians. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida on 15-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 28-September-2009. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 20, 2009 murky dark pour with nice medium tan head. Aroma is tart purple grape, vinegar, nice dark earthiness. Flavor is highly acetic, vinegar, dark fruit, more purple grape. This is like an extreme and unrefined version of rodenbach grand cru. Still very enjoyable, but not for those that cant handle sours.
Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Sep 12, 2009 500ml bottle. Strongly vinous and oaky aroma, some very light sweetness, with dark malts and berry, plenty acetic and tart as well. Cloudy rusty red color, head is sparse and fine. Flavor is full of powerful tartness throughout, sour but not puckeringly so, acetic and very lightly sweet, more oak and red grape, berry and faint cellar must. Tart, dry and with a gently warming, tannic mouthfeel and a full body. Tasty sour style. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2009 Bottled. An unclear deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very acidic with strong notes of fruit as well as medium notes of berries. The flavor is very acidic with notes of fruit, berries, and wood. Thanks yngwie for sharing. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Sep 3, 2009 Where the Wild Beers Are @ The Gate 8/30/09. Muddy reddish brown with ring.
