Commercial Description:
This beer was brewed in sept. 06 and has since then been aged in oak barrels until bottling on March 22. 2008. The beer is blended for roundness but is still very sour and a little bit acetic. We think our first attempt has been a great success and we will definitely try this again.

Bottle from State Line Liquors - hazy burgundy beer - minimal head - an acetic kick hits the nose first, followed by oak and tart fruits (cranberry, raspberry, sour cherry) - medium-sour and very tannic - a bit of strawberry and cranberry - mellow funkiness underneath never completely comes to the fore - present but subtle oak - a little vinegary in the finish - this is a nice one.

Bottle. Yellowish-tan head and a brown pour. Sour and funky aroma - citrus, nail polish, some nuttiness, oak. Flavor is sour, and tasty, but maybe a tad one dimensional. Chalky and dry finish. Yeasty and cheesy. Really nice, except the acetone/nail polish thing.

500ml bottle shared by argoO. Cherry-red brown color, very thick. Sweet in-your-face sour cherry aroma. Thick mouthfeel, not unlike a Gluh-Kriek in some ways. Definitely the most sour Scandinavian beer I’ve had, the Rodenbach Grand Cru of the North. Tart but oh so enjoyable. Some solid oak flavors that mix well with the wild yeast. Non-intrusive alcohol balances right in. Wow, I love this beer. Thick mulled malt collides with sour. Blood red murkiness.

(50cl bottle) Cloudy cola-brown body topped by large tan head that mostly dissipates. Aroma is medium sweet, wood, sour cherry, some funk, alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry, some oak, funk. Light alcohol burn in the finish. Medium body, some stickiness, light acidity. One of the sweetest sours I can recall tasting.

Bottle shared by argo0: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a frothy light tan head. Aroma of sweettart black cherries and complex fresh woody oak with a good caramel malty sweetness and plenty of acidity. Body starts with good fullness and sticky malty sweetness well-balanced with a puckering oaky cherry tartness before a slightly warming tart finish. A very enjoyable and true to style sour brew.

Bottle at BA Decadence line tasting courtesy of wetherel. Pours a cloudy brown color. The nose is tart with brett and cherries. The flavor is woody with oak, overtly sour cherries and some sour apples. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. The finish is long with lingering funky cherry. Overall: Who knew that the Norwegians could make a sour beer? Very tasty!
