dark mahogany brown with a tannish white head and no lacing.
lots of flowers coming off of this one!... sweet malty aroma with notes of cherry, wood, smooth red wine vinegar and a bit of earthy funky stink akin to la roja.
the palate is more sweet than sour which i tend to frown upon... although it is very well balanced. there is a cherry malty sweetness with some vanilla/wood to balance out the vinegar-like/acetic acid. or... the other way around. along the way i pick up an earthy funk and some minerals which remind me (and a lot of others apparently) of la roja.
medium bodied with a fair amount of prickly carbonation. it does leave a bit of residue on the palate. 8/4/7/3/16/3.8 JohnnyJ (1352), Carlsbad, California, USA

Tart cherries, berries, sweet malt, sourness, and a fair amount of oaky flavor. It’s a decent sour. puggy211 (596), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown color, with a fizzy white dissipating head. Minimal wet lacing. Nose is big tart cherries, with apples, some licorice, slight alcohol, caramel and huge on oak. Very tart flavors, huge oaky, vanilla, dry fruit, citrus, with a nice chocolate finish. Burns the nose, very smooth and medium-bodied, extremely drinkable, complex, and very well-made. MrChopin (681), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Updated: Apr 23, 2009Juicy red-brown appearance, creamy head. Nose of vinegar, wood, and tart cherries. Flavor is very incoherent but definitely flemish: lots of very tart balsamic that eases in the finish, some minor wood, cream, cherry, and some significant alcohol. A little watery, lots of berry in the finish. Overall pretty decent, but there’s not a lot to separate it from others that I’ve had and balsamic/vinegar bombs are starting to wear on me. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Orlando, Fl. - Knightly Spirits - 500 ml bottle. Murky orange-brown pour, tight off-white head. Strong, pungent, delectable aroma of sour cherries - very nice. Flavor matches the aroma - very strong sour cherry presence with lots of sourness.....that is my problem with sour beers - not much to describe - but I am liking them more and more. This is one of the better ones.
