Commercial Description:
London Porter - has a lot to offer your tastebuds, this porter includes generous amounts of chocolate malts to render a mild roasty flavour but still a nice intensity. In addition we use balanced amounts of crystal malts and flavouring hops for a good fruitiness and aroma. To be served at 9-12 degrees C. Bottle conditioned - unfiltered and unpasteurised, no artificial carbonation. (Not to be confused with the stronger Haandbryggeriet Porter.) 50cl bottle from ICA. Batch 111. It poured a black colour with a medium beige head. The aroma smells of dark roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice. The flavour is bitter and tastes of roasted malts and juniper. It has a short aftertaste.

The aroma is faintly smoky, tobacco-laced with licorice, soy and chocolate thrown in for good measure. Apparently we are measuring something awful. The flavor is muted, tired and stale malts with dried tobacco, chocolate, coffee and soy. Not so yummy this one.

Bottle, 4.5%. Batch #65. Very powerful aroma of raw liquorice. Almost black colour, very small light brown head. Some aroma hops. Very roasted flavour, barley bitterness, but not overdone. Very thin body, but the flavour is powerful.

bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown shine. The aroma is sweet with notes of soy sauce, chocolate, and roasted malt, as well as hints of oxidation. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, making it rather dry, as well as notes of bitter chocolate, leading to a dry rather bitter and rather roasted finish.

Bottle bought at Fenakroken, Oslo. Darek brown with a light brown, creamy head. Intense coffee and chocolate aroma. Milder flavours, more vanilla, still coffee and chocolate in the lead, mild roast, a bit milky. Silky texture, rather flat. Very satisfying.

Bottle courtesy Joey Joseph JM Redner Jr. Something like that. Dark brown, black edges. Tan head, about 1.5 fingers thick with no retention and spotty drip lacing. Nose of roasted beans, malts, coffee and chocolate. Smells old, but I know it’s not. Just doesn’t have any authority in the nose, or the flavor for that matter. Medium bodied, a bit weak in that department as well. Finish is medium length, some tobacco and astringency, fading into weak stale coffee. Decent.
