Commercial Description:
This beer is our premium X-Mas beer. This beer is full of all the dark malts that we have at hand and display a full and complex malt taste, almost reaching in to the porter style. It has a balanced fruitiness from hops with a good mouth feel and smoothness, and a lingering aftertaste of roasted malts.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is toffee, malts, slight roast and fruits. Also some mild spicyness. Flavour is leathery, malty, toffeeish and slightly smoked wood also. Quite slimy palate, but otherwise well done brew.

Black colored, little brown head. Extremely rich licorice and chocolate in aroma, roastiness also there with sweetness, strong aroma indeed. Medium bodied. Flavor is also dominated by this licorice and chocolate, still more hops in flavor making it not so sweet than aroma. Aftertaste is still syrupy, plummy and rather sweet and hopped, though still somehow round one.

500ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, OKT Pikkujoulu) Batch #35. Very dark ruby, almost black. Spicy burnt malty aroma, also a little alcoholic. Sticky malty body , sweet and burnt. Gently alcoholic, quite pleasant to sip, but missing something. Maybe a little ’raw’ in places.

50 cl bottle, brewed 9/06. Dark brown with a thick tan head. Musty brown sugar, grapes and molasses. Buzzy carb, medium light. Coffee and chocolate with prune sweetness. Grapefruit peel adds some sharpness. Lingering dark roast and licorice.

Bottled (brewed 03/2007, batch #35)
Dark nut brown color, almost opaque color, small brown head. Dark chocolate, burned dark malts and raisins in the nose. Chocolaty, yeasty, some spices (clove?), a bit alcoholic. Similarities to Nøgne Ø Porter, slightly thinner, not so coffeish and more spicey. When this beer warms up, it gets some Old Ale -stylish toffeish notes.

(Bottle) Pours dark to black with a big head. Roasted malt and light spicy aroma with notes of caramel, chocolate, liquorice, salt and mint. Maybe a touch of vanilla and cinnamon. Roasted malt flavour with a light sour sting. Rather spicy with notes of pepper, salt and some anise. Some liquorice and a light touch of coffee are also present. A bit bitter. Lingering aftertaste of dark malt and some subtle fruits. Medium body. Go Norway.
