Commercial Description:
This beer is our premium X-Mas beer. This beer is full of all the dark malts that we have at hand and display a full and complex malt taste, almost reaching in to the porter style. It has a balanced fruitiness from hops with a good mouth feel and smoothness, and a lingering aftertaste of roasted malts.

Very dark brown body that is nearly black with a medium brown sugar colored head. The aroma is rich milk chocolate with lots of dark fruit like prunes. There is also a woody note. The taste has some strong prune notes along with some light notes of very bitter dark chocolate. Rich and fruity, this is like a liquid version of a chocolate covered prune. Interesting, if nothing else.

Poured from a 500ml bottle (Batch 169, brewed Aug. 08) and served in a snifter. This beer poured jet black with a few cola colored highlights near the edges and a thin head of bubbly, tan foam. Minimal lacing. The aroma consisted of roasted malts, bakers chocolate, and some slightly vinous dark fruits. The flavor included charred malts, chocolate covered cherries, plums, and a hint of underlying toffee. A nice, mellow roastiness lingers but is not bitter or overpowering. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and slick/oily. Light carbonation. An interesting Christmas brew. The flavor is a bit vinous and full of dark fruit, but it is also rich and malty.

Bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an opaque black color and a tan rim. Lacing is loose and spotty. A full aroma envelops with notes of dark fruits, subtle hops and coffee, chocolate, and soy sauce. Flavors are rich with toffee and coffee, more chocolate, subtle hints of cherry, plums, and other dark fruits. Superbly balanced malt presence here. Soft carbonation and full body. This beer achieves a refreshing quality despite the darkness in color and flavor; not an easy feat to do. An excellent all-around brew.

Black color with a thin head. Aroma of oak and sherry. Flavors of dark malts, piney hops and a bit of fruit. There is almost the start of some cherry funkiness. Delicious.

Bottle. Thanks to juiceisloose. Aroma of milk chocolate. Tastes of milk chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and smoke. Slight bitter finish. One of the best Christmas beers I have had.

The champion of my holiday beer tasting. Pours and tastes like an imperial porter. Brimming with dark fruit, milk cocoa, dry roast, and maple syrup with an awesome label to boot. This beer is magic.

Black color with a frothy brown head. Oak and dark pitted fruits and a faint spice meadly in the aroma. Smooth roasted and caramel malt body with faint chocolate and a dominant woody character.
