Commercial Description:
This beer is our premium X-Mas beer. This beer is full of all the dark malts that we have at hand and display a full and complex malt taste, almost reaching in to the porter style. It has a balanced fruitiness from hops with a good mouth feel and smoothness, and a lingering aftertaste of roasted malts.

Bottle shared by nbutler11 at his raging Christmas bash. Beautiful fig-filled nose reminiscent of the best bottle of St Bernardus 12 you ever had. Flavor for some reason is much different. Pine buried in a heap of dark fruit, roast, caramel and dark chocolate. A very unnerving brew for its quality. My favorite Old Ale ever.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Slightly more vanilla than chocolate in the nose with splashes of caramel, dried plum and sorghum molasses - a rumor of charred wood from an expired campfire. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. Vinous, tawny port and deeply roasted malt flavors. Lengthy finish that is bursting-at-the-seams with dark fruits.

[Shared with Kjell at the Blood-dinner.] Darkbrown and fast offwhite head. True "old" notes like oak, dried fruits, some coffee and christmas sweetness.

The aroma is sweet and toasty with fruit, hops, and coffee. It reminds me of a porter. Three is also a hint of soap. The appearance is dark brown with a smooth tan head that is very persistent. The flavor is just like the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall a nice beer. I just dont quite like the acidic finish.

Pours deep black into a snifter. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Soy aromas. Soy upfront turning to licorice and sour earth and a chocolate and pit fruit finish. Similar to a Belgian stout.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Dark brown, almost black pour, thin broken layer of tan head. Nice sweet and spicy aroma, treacle, raisin. Dark fruit on the taste, light earthy hops, slight roast on the back end. Nice.

500 ml. Batch 98, bottled Okt 07, best for Okt 10. Opaque black with a lasting quarter-inch of frothy cappuccino bubbles with a hard pour. Aroma of coffee, funky leather and cherry, light cocoa and charred wood. Flavor is a good blend of the same, with some sweet licorice and cured tobacco, and a smooth roast and oak finish. Medium-heavy body is smooth, lightly carbonated and roasty dry.
