Lots of carbonation, perhaps too much. The nose is cooked bacon, raspberries, and molasses. The flavor is pretty similar but the carbonation kills some of the complexity. Very smokey, almost tobacco like but its just shy of being harsh, pretty much perfectly done in that regard. Some berry notes but not enough and there is some caramel and molasses in the flavor but it is completely dominated by the smoke flavor. This one needs a little more work but I think with a little more experimentation this well be one of the best smoked beers in the world. lamas (730), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA

Pours a rich amber/mahogany color with a HUGE khaki head. Lots of sour berries in the roasty, toasted grain aroma. Thin to medium-bodied. Sweet caramel and tangy juniper berries upfront. Finishes with some light biscuitiness and smoke. I think this one’s prime has passed. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Aroma is light juniper berry and smoked malt.. Aroma is almost anti-septic and band-aid like, but it’s not a horrible smell. Just an unusual smell. Taste is light smoked peat and malt with some toasted grain and juniper. Mild carbonation and light bitter finnish this is a great brew! Petrucci914 (598), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Pours a dark amber color with a large creamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a few streams of bubbly lacing. Aroma is smoke, peat, slight citrus, and juniper - in the vein of styles of Gin. Taste is old ale meets smoked ale - burned roasts, chocolate, liquid smoke, and a bit of bitterness. zach8270 (2136), Henrietta, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Pours a cloudy murky brown with a creamy light tan head. The nose is smokey, meaty, lightly sweet, fruity, citrus and spice. The flavor is spicy, very lively, smoke is more of a background note, waxy bitterness. Either the hops or the juniper is adding an astringency. The mouthfeel makes it seem Belgian, very lively. Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
