Nose of smoke, wood, malt, earthy herbs, light twang, and subtle floral/fruity notes. Same flavors- smokey, malty, earthy, herbal. Cool stuff. Medium to medium/full body, just smoother than balanced carbonation. Real easy to drink. How about 5L mini kegs? MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Bottle, thanks for sharing Todd! Wood, juniper, smoke, light soap aroma. Brown, huge off-white head.
Fairly harsh smoked, chocolate, abrupt metallic finish, perfumed juniper. Dry, but relatively thin body. Not harmonic but interresting. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Chocolate brown pour with a massive off-white head. Aroma has strong notes of smoky, firewood. I didn’t get any juniper berries or fruit in the aroma at all. I enjoyed this one on my palate - strong malty body and the same smoky flavors as in the aroma. Interesting brew - I feel like rauch-style biers are underappreciated and this is one of the better ones I’ve had. Only negative is mildly astringent flavors on the back of the palate.
