bottle. pours black with a dark tan head but only if it would have lasted long. a pleasant aroma of dark fruit, chocolate, and port wine. flavors of licorice, raisins, tobacco, and dark chocolate. a sweet finish but balanced by long bitterness. body is tad thin but alcohol is well hidden. a really nice imperial stout.

0.5l bottle brought from Norway by a friend (huge, HUGE thanks Bojan!). Batch 207.
Small ochre head, as black as MY HEART. Ok not really. It is however damn black, pitch black. And thick. Dry nose, chicory, coffee, cocoa, a little alcohol, slightly fruity, dark cherries maybe. Damn complex taste... cocoa, full sour cherries, coffee again, wow, very light dust, noticable but not offensive alcohol. The wild yeast mostly did wonders for the drinkability and possibly with some flavors but that acidity that sticks in the aftertaste does detract a little. All in all, a great beer.

500ml bottle from west lakeview liquors. glad this one decided to show up again..... aroma sweet chocolate, subtle sour cherries , roast, yeast and a touch of booziness... pours a deep non-penetrable blackwith a lush and thickdeep tan head. looks fantastic although the head faded rather quickly but still though.... flavors were thick creamy with a heavy emphasis on bittersweet chocolate that starts off sweet then quickly turns roasty with a fair amount of ashiness on the finish. subtle red fruits fruit also come into play and intermingle well. smooth and silky in the mouth with a light to medium carbonation. a little airy but still pretty decent.

Bottle batch 210 brewed 20.01.09. O wow what a pour... reminiscent of Dark Horizon, pitch black, obsidian, super deep black, seemingly trapping light like a black hole, fizzy foamy dense dark sandy brown head. Aroma is super roasty, not at all what I was expecting, bright and chocolaty, light grass, hint of alcohol and just a touch of acidity that seems to meld it all together, some fruit and berry seeds emerge as it warms, stunning. That is freaking delicious, will finish rating in 30 minutes... watching movie. Okay.. I’m back. First taste is sharp, dark chocolate and bright funk, mildly fruity, berry seeds, dark chocolate, lovely yeast character, the roast almost gets pushed under, flour-less chocolate cake, subtle hint of espresso, the alcohol makes itself known every couple of sips in a pleasant way, quick finish with a long dry ashy aftertaste. Full bodied, super fluffy, great sensation, not sticky or syrupy at all, the wild yeast at play no doubt. Holy moly... I can only Imagine that this was not nearly as good a few months ago. This is one of those beers I wish someone was here to share with me... because I’m sure no one is going to believe that this bottle was that good... hehe.

Rich and dark with brown head. Carbonation bubbling up all about. Vanilla, with faint hints of coffee and chocolate on the aroma with a bit of earthy funk on the very end. Holy smokes, an incredibly body. A rich leather and smoke character with a light cherry hint that smooths out into some nice burnt malt and more earthy leather.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Oslo. It was a beautiful black liquid that flowed out of the bottle. The foam was quite small and brown. At first the aroma was not too great, some coffee, chocolate and licorice. As the liquid got warmer, it became more interesting. Burnt malt, soy, and some smoke. Flavor was great! Salt, cherries, leather, some smoke. A lot of malt, great balance. Full-bodied beer, absolutely. Sure, I felt the beer was pretty strong (11%) but there was never any annoying feeling the alcohol. Surprisingly easy to drink despite the strength and character. A lovely beer!

Bottle split with Pwn3d and DepAndy, Thanks Dallas. This was a monster stout. Pours a pitch black body with great brown lacing. The aroma is strong roast, chocolate malts, and burnt meat. The flavor is the same with some alcohol in the finish.

If any beer has started with a 5.0 and had to work its way down from perfection, it’s this one. I’m sure Odin’s looking down from Valhalla and giving a gentle nod of approval to the boys at Haandbryggeriet. Good Viking’s ale! If I were to sail off, exploring isles off the Arctic northern coast of Norway.. I would have Haandbryggeriet Odin’s Tipple in hand and wielding a battle axe in the other. Pours deep brutal black. Taste is espresso, tobacco, bacon, and chocolate. Rich and thick palate. Straightforward and fantastic. I could not detect any alcohol at all.
