Commercial Description:
Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, it’s a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Bottle shared by sloth at SL, thanks brother! Nice black color, with a good mocha colored head. Looked great! Nice aroma of roasted malts, maybe some caramel... Taste is a nice impy... Lots of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, maybe some smokiness in there. Texture was silky.. Easy to drink considering its 11 percent. Nice brew overall, thanks bert!

Bottle. An opaque dark black beer with a small and persistent dark brown head. Wonderful aroma, rich of roasted malts, lightly hoppy with notes of blueberries, blackberries, chocolate, coffee and a hint of alcohol. The flavour is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Very roasty, viscous, intense and flavourful. Medium to full body, lively carbonation, very long finish with more than medium bitterness. Another world class stout from this brewery, fruity roasty, and even this is less refined tha Dark Force I give it the same rating.

Bottle from bottle shop in Colorado Springs. Opened at PP bottle shop. Black thick. Low, but decent carbonation. Low roastiness (good). Alcohol well hidden. Somewhat low in flavor. Decent.

dark as midnight in a black factory .. . lots of dark evil fruits and light papercuts of smoke .. . dark chocolate raisins and odd coffeepot jazz (light funk) in mouth, soupa smooth for the 11% tag.. . different yet uniquely familiar! kudos!

Bottle from Noblesquirrel, you have any more? Holy crap this is amazing. Pours a dark black color with a great brown head. The beer sticks to the glass as it gives off tons of chocolate, raisins, coffee, and some molasses. Flavor has a remarkable balance between sweet chocolate, roasted malt and a nice bitter finish. I get lots of prunes, some molasses, bitter chocolate, coffee and the dry wonderful hop bite at the end. Damn this beer kicks major ass. Get some, you will not regret it.

Bottle from Bergen vino store. Frothy caramel colored. Looks like a caramel macchiato. Aroma is tart, sweet, brown sugar, caramel, apple. Taste has light bite to it, mostly sweet, some alcohol noted. Really tart sweet aroma has notes of bourbon.

Bottle from Batch 210, brewed on 01/20/09 and aged about nine months. Colored as dark black as any beer I’ve ever seen, a taught head of dark, dark brown foam sets up nicely, only to inexplicably crumble away after a few seconds. I’ve never seen a darker head, nor one that looked as well retained as this one and then deflate like a failed souffle. Thin, soapy sheeting slides down the glass, returning to the body without leaving a spot of lacing behind. The nose is boldly roasted, with a monstrous amount of bittersweet chocolate malt. Star anise and licorice are prominent, as are worn leather, smoky-sweet molasses and burnt cane sugar. I even get some hints of black cherry, which might be the yeast talking. The flavor profile reminds me alot of Mikkeller Black, only scaled down a bit and a bit drier. Earthen hops lend a decent amount of bitterness, though it remains largely driven by dark cacao, burnt caramel, and molasses. The anise is again present, throwing its licorice-like sharpness into the mix. A nod to port wine is even discernible, completing one of the more complex flavor profiles I’ve come across in an imperial stout in some time. The wild yeast serves to dry out what would seemingly be an overwhelmingly sugary palate otherwise, replacing the sweetness with ambitious carbonation. This is damn fine stuff if you ask me. It’s a huge, warming brew that’s perfect for winter. Lord knows why I opened it during the Florida summer.

Black with a large dark beige head. Sweet aroma with burned malt, dark chocolate and espresso notes. Flavour was sweet with espresso, dark bitter chocolate and liquerice. Finished sweet with warming alcohol.
