The porter had a fine dark color, too dark to see through. I did feel that the beer tasted too much like roasted malt and didn’t have much in the way of traditional porter molasses style sweetness, this beer definitely had a much thinner body than most porters as well. Pours black with a 3 finger light brown head. Big roasted caramel malted nose. Sweet slightly malty a little coffee and kinda sour. Taste is a little off if you ask me. Overall okay. esox (266), Oulu, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Bottle. Medium head is light brown. Liquid is black. Lots of dark chocolate and some coffee in aroma with dried dark fruits. Roasted malts and sweetish caramel in the finish with hoppy bite. Sour cofee beans in the finish too. Flavor is nice mix of sweet malts, sour coffee and medium bitter finish. Body is surprisingly light. Texture is slick at first and turns to a bit sticky towards the finish. Very pleasant chocolate in the long lasting finish. Overall a nice beer with not too dominating coffee and chocolate aromas. Body could be fuller though. guzzler67 (1282), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Totally dark appearance with a large tan head and good lacing. Intriguing aroma of wood, coffee, dark chocolate, molassas and caramel. Roasted malt, roasted coffee flavor, relatively sweet, turning a bit more drier and a shade more bitter in the aftertaste. Mellow, velvety, medium-bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Long lasting finish with a slight metallic edge. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 2, 2008 (from notes) Extremely dark brew with a good tan head. Thick, heavy smell dominated by dark fruit and grain. Complex, full flavor- roasted grains, burnt toast, earthy bitterness, and a touch of lactic sourness. Heavy but not overpowering on the palate, medium carbonation. Ughsmash (4042), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

The aroma picked up moderately toasted darker chocolate and coffee malts with overtones of sour vinegary notes (uh-oh!). The flavor confirmed that there was a problem, leaving sour coffee and fruity notes throughout.. dark chocolate and coffee maltage again.. coffee and earthy bitterness showed, but were mostly washed away by the sour notes. Medium-bodied and roasty on the palate with unwelcome sourness.. I’m going to have to try this again sometime. TaxiDriver (938), Stadland, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2008 Bottle. Strong malty smell of strong coffee, moderate hidden sweetness. Huge brown creamy head, long lasting. The body is black. Moderate bitter, light acetic, long duration. Soft carbonation, full body, dry and creamy texture. Very nice Porter! zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA

Black with a tan head that starts thick and slowly fades.Sweet espresso aroma. Taste is complex..berry, roasted malt, hops. Not sticky and with a watery finish, like many ports I’ve had. It is like drinking a meal. Lovely. Even and complex enough to make you muse on what you are drinking.
