Bottle, Batch 78, purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours black with an average, frothy, light brown head, lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, coffee, toasted nutty grain), light hops (dry grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of prune and tar. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

My label is a little different that what is pictured here. Mine has a dragon in a circular form with Norse Porter vertically across the circle. Anyways, this is definitely a porter brewed May 07, batch 78. Big coffee flavors and a smooth slightly bitter finish. Big flavors for a porter. Slight sweetness in the aroma and it leaves a lasting sweet impression on the finish. Roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and coffee are the dominating flavors here. Bigger and bolder than many impy stouts I have had with out all the alcohol. I think that is interesting.

Bottle. Batch 78, brewed May 07. Poured very deep brown with a moderate sized brown head. Big chocolate malt aroma, with some sweetness and roasted character. Flavor is primarily bitter, roasted chocolate malt. Long, roasted finish. Fairly thin bodied.

My bottle is 1pint.9 oz., 6.5%, Batch NR 78. I got a huge fizzy beige head. Dark body. Nose has a big roasted chocolate, really like a candy bar, and a complement of coffee. If this were a bit sweeter, I would call it a sweet stout, really. This is a pleasant drink, enjoying this on a cool night. Very dry finish, with a small hop bite to linger.

Batch #78 500 ml "Norse Porter" (6.5% ABV) from West Lakeview, Chicago. Opaque black with huge long lasting tan head. ARoma is a lot of roast and sweet malt with a minimal amount of coffee. Flavor is Sweet chocolate malt with a good hop bitterness, only very slight dark fruits and surprisingly dry. Also some grape/wine flavors. Medium body, nice carbonation. A pretty solid/nice porter, though it doesn’t stand above the rest.

Very opaque black pour. A huge tan head forms and slowly/evenly recedes, not fully. The nose is very chocolatey, with brash notes of anise and burned malt, as well as lesser hints of smoke, coffee, cream, old bread, old hops, dark fruit in moderation and barely any recognizable alcohol. The flavor is a smashing wall of creamy sweet chocolate with coffee notes further accentuating looming roasted malt. Astringency is high for the style, medium overall. What starts out as a mild and lightly chocolatey/lightly bitter sip ends up as a kick to the face full of dark sweets and bitterness. This is very good once I adjust to it. The finish is semi-sweet, chocolate and roast fading slowly until there is just a hint of bittersweet left on the tongue. The mouthfeel is very highly carbonated and milky, medium-full bodied, very lightly sticky and extremely easy to drink. Very good, but strange.

Poured a black-brown color with a large tan head that seems to hold on strong for a bit. Aroma is roasted, with cedar like wood note, slight cola aroma, finishing with a light chocolate note. Some dried fruit noted. Flavor is extremely roasted, with a French roast coffee charecter. There are some wood like notes to wrap this puppy up.
