Roasty and malty. Creamy. Nice bitter finish. Not distinctive but a good Porter nonetheless. Glouglouburp (2867), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Updated: Oct 1, 2009In short: A highly roasted stout with a chocolate cake character. Good stuff.
How: Re-rate for a fresh Norse Porter bottle
The look: Black body topped by a large beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is highly roasted and develops black pepper notes. Taste is highly roasted, burnt campfire wood, cake malts, chocolate ice cream (lactic notes), nougat wrapped in black chocolate, black pepper. Something dusty and doughy about the taste, probably the yeast. Not very bitter despite the black chocolate taste. Soft and round body. Not that different from their own Haandbryggeriet Dark Force. Simple but effective, the name is the most complex part of the beer.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2007 A nice heavy darkbrown looking beer with lots of aromanotes such as coffeechocs, raisins, weak smoke and wet teeths. Flavor is similar added with smoothness, refreshness, fireplace, firewood. Easy drinkable, maybe too easy! MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2007 My Bottom Line:
This Porter sports plenty of roasted notes that withstand the molasses sweetness, continuing into great bitterness and surging drops of blackberry juice.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam stands atop the brown-sleeved black.
-Carbonation is frothy, and could be subdued a bit to let more flavor come through.
-Coffee protrudes from the roastiness, adding complexity.
-Hops are rather quiet, even in the finish.
