Pours a dark brown almost black color. Nice brown head that fades away. Nose is sweet chocolate, sweet roasted malts, and hints of oakiness. Flavor is sweet with a lot of chocolates and caramel. There’s a hint of a hop profile in this beer too which is nice at the finish! Another impressive porter from the Norwegians. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Nose has some nice things going on, with dark roast, black chocolate and coffee. Flavor has a lot of character, with lots of roast and fruit, and even a touch sourness. The hand beers are of a very high quality. lamas (736), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Bottled as HaandBryggeriet Norse Porter, batch 78, served in a stem glass. Pours very dark brown, nearly black, some garnet visible near the edges, and topped by a good inch and a half of creamy beige foam. The nose has notes of dark chocolate, licorice, red grapes, and peat. Taste is a nice blend of chocolate and smoke, some wood and coffee are also noticeable. Finishes dry and roasted with a slight sour edge. Carbonation feels a bit high for this beer, if they would have kept it in check this beer would be nearly perfect. Cybercat (826), Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Aroma is rich and smoky, strongly of roast coffee with a hint of chocolate. It pours a very dark sable, nearly black, with a thick, fine-bubbled, cinnamon-tan head. Mouth-filling flavor is very smoky with tones of chocolate and coffee and just a whisper of sweetness. There is a hint of molasses as well. Texture is thick, oily and smooth, and leaves a tingle as it goes down. mjs (1559), Helsinki, Finland
