This beer is a robust porter with lots of dark malts of various kinds with a smooth taste and a nice fruitiness from the hops and a dryish aftertaste that lingers. 34 IBU's

Tasted 12/27/08. 500ml bottle. Dark and opaque with a brown hue. Faint trace head. Syrupy maple nose. Sweet candy nose. Full bodied and sweet. Peppery finish. Cookie and cola flavors. Decent alcohol shining through. Solid and malt driven palate. Sticky finish with trace hop profile. Toasty aspect shines as it warms. Money.

500mL bottle poured into a snifter. This was was massively carbonated out of the bottle and left a 3-finger tan head on top of a near-black body. The head lasts for quite a while and leaves fair amounts of lacing. The aroma is dominated by dark roasted malts and semi-sweet chocolate. There is definitely a slightly acidic with lactose. The taste actually brings a bit stronger lactose presence that is more prevalent than the roasted malts and chocolate underneath. There is a hint of hop bitterness in the finish. Tastes a lot like a milk stout honestly. The mouthfeel is smooth with good carbonation. This is a decent porter but not one of my favorites. The acidity of the lactose is a little bit more than I like, but it’s still a good beer.

Bottle. Batch 68. Huge creamy head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich with licorice, roast malt and coffee. Tried the batch 107 right after and that was way more mild and light in all respects. Would probably only give this one 3.6 or so.

Pours a thick black color and viscosity with a tall tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and burnt malts. Flavor improves with warming- coffee, burnt malts and chocolate. A very nice offering.
