This was was massively carbonated out of the bottle and left a 3-finger tan head on top of a near-black body. The head lasts for quite a while and leaves fair amounts of lacing.
The aroma is dominated by dark roasted malts and semi-sweet chocolate. There is definitely a slightly acidic with lactose.
The taste actually brings a bit stronger lactose presence that is more prevalent than the roasted malts and chocolate underneath. There is a hint of hop bitterness in the finish. Tastes a lot like a milk stout honestly.
The mouthfeel is smooth with good carbonation.
This is a decent porter but not one of my favorites. The acidity of the lactose is a little bit more than I like, but it’s still a good beer. onystrom (808), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Bottle. Batch 68. Huge creamy head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich with licorice, roast malt and coffee. Tried the batch 107 right after and that was way more mild and light in all respects. Would probably only give this one 3.6 or so. alobar (1055), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
