Flavor is all over the place, has chocolate, fruit, and even a touch of smoke. Great texture that just coats the mouth. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Bottle, batch 78. Dark pour with a big tan head. Acrid smoky aroma, quite sweet smelling and slightly tart. Vinous. Raisins and other dried fruit, bitter chocolate, almonds, anise. Flavor is nice and round - fresh citrusy grapefruit/tangerine, coffee, smoke, chocolate, cherries. Seltzer like finish with lots of carbonation. Long bitter almond/chocolate finish. I would’ve put it at way more than 34 IBU’s. A nice porter. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Deep black pour with a huge, perfect head. Flavor is really rich, really sweet, nutty, dark pitty fruits, licorice, toffee, and burnt caramel. Very big, despite its size. The aroma is big, bold, and brash, with charcoal, coffee. Overall an excellent porter, very European tasting while still retaining its American character. chicagodri (1068), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Nice caramel aroma and some dark fruit. I am not a huge fan of Porters, but this was pretty solid. BlackForestCO (828), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle shared by a local. Poured a deep brown color with a moderate, deep beige head that faded to a ring. Fairly bland aroma with hints of chocolate malt and dark fruit (plum, raisin, fig). Smooth, sweet entry with some dark fruit and undertones of light roast and a hint of coffee. Moderate carbonation and decent mouthfeel. Overall a decent porter that was pretty easy to drink, but there are others I will look for first. thornecb (1805), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Bottle. I found this in the back of my closet and I know I drank it before. Never rated it. Oh well, this one is over a year old. Pours out a black color with a tan head on it, (shocking). Smell is uh, I kinda forgot. There wasnt much to smell. Chocolate and a little bit of coffee, thats about the extent of it. Taste is sweet, and almost like a milk stout. Not very good, I dont know if its the age or what, but this beer left alot to be desired. I wish I had rated this over a year ago when I drank a fresh bottle. Sean would have aged it for 27 more years before trying it.
