Smells caramelly with paper, toast, alcohol, and raisiny plum notes. Raisiny-alcohol and plum flavours. Sugary sweet, though not necessarily syrupy with bready grain in the background. Bitter cocoa finish. Tasty.
Thanks for holding on to this for me to try, Rudolf! rudolf (1786), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2007 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Pours a hazy (which is unusual for a German bock, but this was unfiltered) dark, amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Fat aroma of roasted malt and overripe fruit. Quite a solid body with a very rich malt base. A little low in carbonation. Accents of caramel and overripe fruit and a fairly alcoholic finish without much hop presence. 141107 voota (765), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Brilliant orange/brown with a large creamy and lacy tan head. Strong toffee, prune, pineapple, honey and earthy hop aroma. The body is thick and strong, but manages to maintain smoothness through some perfect carbonation. Flavours of raisin, rum, peach and a honey sweetness. some strong bitterness underpins the sweetness. Delicious though to the finish. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Plum, molasses and toffee nose. Roasted grain and caramel flavours at first approach, with a nice hoppy finish. Light carbonation enhances the round body of this well balanced beer. An excellent doppelbock in the best tradition. skortila (2914), Bunnik, Netherlands
